FAQs
How long does TMS Treatment last?
The typical course of TMS treatment begins with 6-weeks of treatment 5-days a week. This initial period is followed by 2-weeks of treatment every other day. Because Dr. Martin needs to determine how to most effectively administer treatment, your first session could last up to an hour and a half. Each daily TMS Treatment session will be administered over a 37-minute period. Routinely we schedule a 1-hour time block to complete each treatment. Once your daily session is complete, you may return to your normal daily routine.
What does TMS Therapy Treatment feel like?
The feeling most patients experience during treatment is a gentle tapping on your scalp. The tapping feeling is from the quick magnetic pulses the machine emits during the session. Along with the feeling, you will also hear a tapping sound. Some patients may find this tapping uncomfortable at first; however, after the first few treatment sessions most patients feel most discomfort is resolved. This is due to the nerves on your scalp becoming de-sensitized to the magnetic pulse.
Am I a good candidate for NeuroStar TMS?
You may be a good candidate for TMS treatment if you suffer from depression, but are not benefiting enough from antidepressants, or wish to seek an alternative treatment to antidepressants. This treatment is clinically proven to treat the symptoms of depression for patients who have not responded to previous antidepressant treatment.
